Sunday: Valley Forge National Park!

For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to go and bike the Valley Forge National Park, when we got there we found that the trail was 6.6 miles long & Scooter was up for the challenge.. not wanting to be outdone I agreed. Little did I know there was a whole bunch of rolling hills throughout the trail.. we probably shouldn't have biked the whole 6.6 miles for our first time on that trail but coasting downhill and seeing all the historical landmarks was so much fun we hardly noticed the challenge, although we had to hop off the bikes a few times on some steep hills! The kiddos enjoyed riding in the bike trailer while their Daddy pulled them we were all pooped when it was over. Here are some pictures of the cool things we got to see, we plan on going back and biking the trail again and taking more pictures. It was a little windy and chilly today.

Above are log cabins the soldiers would stay in during the revolutionary war, these cabins protected the soldiers from harsh weather conditions.. it was very cool to be able to see the cabins & yes those are real people dressed as soldiers you could take pictures or ask them questions!

Above are some of the historical monuments in the Valley Forge National Park, their beauty is quite astounding. Most of them stand in memory of our fallen soldiers.

The valley we biked around, the view was amazing, you can kind of see in the pictures how the hills were rolling throughout. We biked 6.6 miles, I'm still in shock us out of shape old farts were able to do it. LOL. The monument here I believe was a statue of George Washington (at this point the kids started to get a case of the crankies so can't be sure what it was)

Above is the Defender's chapel & Brendan checking out a canon & riding his tricycle around the parking lot.

We will probably be sore tomorrow from all the bike riding, but the Valley Forge National park is definitely worth the trip and a wonderful sight to see so if you are ever in the area this is a must see for family attractions!

Looks like those YMCA classes are paying off if you were able to bike that far! Poor Scoot had 50 extra pounds to carry! Looks like ya'll had fun. We stayed in this weekend because it was too humid and warm. Enjoy that weather!
